Pre-Production:Final locations

In order to establish our final filming location, my group and I have visited St. Mary's church on the harrow hill and have decided that it is the best location to film our opening sequence scenes. The people inside the church are few and far between, meaning that they are rarely there, thus making it easier for us to go and film inside. To make sure that we are allowed to film inside there though, we have obtained a pass from the college that says we are part of an AS media class. We finally decided to use this church as it is conveniently near to the college, meaning that we would only have to take a short walk to get there with all of the equipment. It is also a very eerie looking place, with looming stained glass windows that we can use to our advantage with the editing effects afterwards. The church is also very dark inside, and the only light is that that flows in through the windows. This allows us to create some really cool effects with light and shadow. Again the church is very dark, but also very cold, especially in the winter time, which perfectly fits the ideas for our opening sequence.

Another location that we have decided on is Horsenden Hill, which is located right by my house, making it very accessible for filming and carrying equipment. This is a secluded, natural area, full of trees and woodland, which is perfect for some of our scenes. These shots would make great moving filler shots for our montage style opening. Because it is so secluded and quiet, it perfectly represents our main theme of isolation, making this a definite location for our shoot.
